Who is behind Familiekluis

Why we build this

Anyone who has had to sort out a parent’s paperwork after a death runs into almost the same thing: a folder nobody is sure is complete, a laptop nobody has the code to, and insurance policies that only surface months later. Not because nothing had been arranged, but because it was not in one place.

That is the problem Familiekluis solves. Not by being yet another storage service, but by recording in advance who may see what and when — so that at the moment it matters, nobody has to go looking.

If you moved here from another country, there is a second layer to it. The people who will eventually have to sort things out may not live here, may not read Dutch, and may have no idea which Dutch institution needs which document. Writing it down beforehand is worth more in that situation, not less.

What we stand for

Three principles, and we hold to them even when it is inconvenient.

• European, genuinely. Your data sits within the European Union, with a European provider, under European law. No American parties, not even indirectly. On where your data lives you can read exactly what sits where.
• No promises we cannot keep. We could have written that we cannot reach your documents. That would sound better and it would not be true. What is true is on security.
• Leaving must be as easy as joining. You take your documents out in one go and cancel whenever you want. A vault you cannot leave is not a vault but a trap. See what if Familiekluis stops.

The notary as an independent anchor

Familiekluis does not execute deeds itself and receives no commission from notaries. A notary can, however, have a role in your vault: as an independent party who confirms that a situation genuinely applies before anything is released.
